Alyson began her formal training in ballet and tap technique at the age of
4, and soon after began training in jazz and acting, performing in
community musical theatre productions throughout the Monterey, California
bay area. She became a company member of Spector Dance (contemporary
ballet) in Monterey, California and Light Body Dance Company (modern) in
Santa Cruz, California while attending college and performing in such
musicals as Funny Girl, West Side Story, Grease and Chicago.
While earning her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Dance (summa cum laude) at
The University of California, San Diego, she continued her extensive dance
training and performing with Thor Sutowski and Dame Sonya Arova, San Diego
Ballet, Alonzo King, Lines Contemporary Ballet, Jean Issacs, San Diego
Dance Theatre, and Patricia Rincon, Patricia Rincon Dance Collective.
During this time she also received thorough instruction in dance pedagogy,
human anatomy, kinesiology and nutrition. Alyson participated in the UC
Artsbridge program for two years, teaching and advocating dance in the
K-12 curriculum in schools throughout San Diego County. For the past

years she has taught ballet, tap, creative dance, yoga, pilates and jazz
to students age 2 to 50! This is Alyson’s 8th year on staff at D.U.
