Currie began his career as a member of Ballet Theatre now known as ABT.
He was a Tom Hansen Dancer on the Red Skelton Show on CBS for eight
years.
His long list of
credits as a performer include the movies “West Side Story”, “Music
Man”, “Bye-Bye Birdie”, “Mame” and “How to Succeed in Business”. He
was a resident performer at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas and
performed in many television shows such as the Sonny and Cher Show,
Bob Hope Specials, the Hollywood Palace Shows, Dinah Shore Chevy Shows
and Frank Sinatra Specials. He also performed on the Academy Award’s
Show in the production number for the Best Song of the Year, “Shaft”.
Currie has been associate choreographer and dancer for Tom Hansen on
the Tim Conway Comedy Hour Series. He was associate choreographer and
Ballet Master on three area spectaculars: Disney on Parade, Peter Pan
and Flintstones on Parade. His teaching assignments have included the
CBS Newcomer Series and his alma mater, The Ballet Theatre School in
Denver. Currie was trained by Francesca and Dimitri Romanoff, former
Regisseurs of Ballet Theatre. He has also studied with such well
known teachers as Vladimir Kostenko, Olga Proebajenska, Stanley Holden
and Eugene Long. Currie has been on the dance faculty at Dance
Unlimited for the past 15 years. He is pleased and honored to have
been included in the 1996 edition of the “Who’s Who of America’s
Teachers”.
